Get to Know Us
Our therapeutic approach is to provide a safe and supportive environment to explore your concerns, and to provide practical feedback to help you effectively address life challenges. We implement dialectical and cognitive behavioral therapies including mindfulness-based brief treatment. These combined techniques provide powerful tools through which we can understand ourselves with more clarity and improve relationships with others.
With more than 10 years’ experience as a social worker and clinical psychologist, we truly enjoy helping individuals and families identify issues and make effective changes. Our clinical focus includes emerging adults, adolescents, couples, individuals, and first responders. We have
enjoyed past experiences working with patients in hospital and community settings, including community mental health and residential care. We believe change is possible for every person, and we are engaged, solution-focused practitioners.
Kari Sandy, LCSW:
I bring the unique perspective of a social worker with years of experience working with families in crisis. I help individuals identify areas of crisis and navigate challenging life events to effectively implement change. I offer qualified guidance to assist individuals and families resolve issues through skill building and strengths-focused services.
I completed my MSW from Dominican University with site placements at Rush Medical Center and Mount Prospect Social Services/Police Department. I have completed additional training in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. As an undergraduate, I studied Sociology and Women’s Studies.
Through compassion, kindness, and a bit of humor, I work with people to facilitate change, build strengths, and achieve growth.
Meetings are confidential, in a nonjudgmental office setting. Together we will design a plan to assist you with your goals, whether they are for improving self esteem or decreasing symptoms such as depression and anxiety.
Family situations can be tough. Together we will work towards better communication and building trust. Through meetings we will develop a plan to help restore health within the family.
Adolescent and Emerging Adult Therapy
Teenage and early adulthood can be a trying time. With the assistance of therapy services we can develop a way to communicate and explore in a healthy manner. Goals and achievable steps are worked on through a safe environment.
I provide Clinical Supervision for LCSW and LCPC candidates. In my ten plus years of practice I have several treatment experiences ranging from adolescent residential services, community mental health, managed care and supervisory services. Please contact me for availability and pricing.
